What is Toastmasters International?

Toastmasters International is a global non-profit educational organization which provides a platform to hone one’s public speaking and leadership skills through a worldwide network of meeting locations. Formed in 1924, Toastmasters’ headquarters are located in California and the organization has more than 270,000 members in more than 13,000 clubs in 116 countries. I want to know more about Coromandel Toastmasters. What do I do?

The best way to take this forward would be to attend one of our meetings as a guest. We meet every Saturday from 5 – 7 PM at Sitadevi Garodia Hindu Vidhyalaya, East Tambaram.

Do I have to join right away?

Not necessary. You are welcome to attend any number of our meetings as a guest and become a member after you get comfortable with the club and members.

Will I be forced to talk when I walk in as a guest?

Your participation in our meeting as a guest is limited to introducing yourself and participating in Table Topics session, if you are willing.  You can also provide feedback on the session, but your participation is entirely voluntary.

How do I become a member of Coromandel Toastmasters Club?

You can drop a mail to coromandeltoastmastersclub@gmail.com or call our Vice President Membership, Mr. Naresh at 9500978800 and then fill up the membership form provided to you.

Is there any membership fee?

Yes, the membership fee for the first 6 months is Rs. 4000 which makes you a life member of Toastmasters International allowing you to attend any club worldwide. Upon renewal of your membership for every subsequent 6 month period, you will be charged Rs. 2800 which covers the cost of your educational manuals, Toastmasters monthly magazines and their shipping cost.

What is the format of a Toastmasters meeting?

The format of a meeting varies slightly from club to club, but most meetings include a very brief business meeting, introduction of the Master of Ceremonies who presides over the program for the day, prepared and impromptu speeches from members, oral evaluations and reports from other evaluation personnel. Meetings can last anywhere from one hour to three hours.

Is there an age restriction to join the club?

Yes, you need to be above 18 years to become a member.

Are there any clubs in my locality?
